HISTORY Follow the traces of E.G.O.

Karl Fischer founds the “Schwarzwälder Zangenkontakt-Werkstätte“ in Oberweiler. With his idea of using electronics in the kitchen, he laid the foundation for a long company history. Six years later, he moves to Oberderdingen.

On September 10, 1931, Karl Fischer and Heinrich Blanc establish the E.G.O. Elektro-Gerätebau GmbH in Oberderdingen in southern Germany. The development and advancement of the electric hotplate suitable for household use is groundbreaking. It contributes significantly to making cooking easier, cleaner, and more convenient.

The EGO Tubular Heating Element begins its successful career. Since then, it has been heating baking ovens, grills, washing machines, dishwashers, dryers, and many other devices in continuously new shapes and functions. Thanks to its flexible shape, it always adapts perfectly to its field of application and is therefore still the first choice in many end devices.

The energy regulator heats the cooking zone at regular intervals. It operates even more precisely than the automatic hotplate's control. The fully variable setting allows the heat level to be adjusted with even greater accuracy to different quantities of food.

With the glass-ceramic hobs, a new technology that homemakers and professional chefs alike are eagerly embracing moves into the kitchen. While EGO Radiant Heating Elements operating under the surface ensure exact temperatures reliably and economically.

EGO Thick Film Heating is one of the most important solutions in heating technology. Versatile, efficient, and low-profile, it is used in household appliances, medical technology, and the automotive industry, among others.

E.G.O. manufactures induction units for the first time. This step marks the company's entry into a new cooking technology. Cooking with the help of ferromagnetic fields has become an integral part of kitchens today.

With the EGO Touch Control, electronic glass-ceramic cooktops, for example, are controlled without any knobs, just by lightly touching the control fields. The closed surface of the control panel offers new, exciting designs, and easier cleaning.

The multifunctional Smart Plug and Smart Gateway takes over the energy management and the integrated control of household technology elements such as solar power systems, heating, or household appliances. This improves comfort and safety throughout the home.

Induction itself is not an innovation. Induction cooking with the EGO G5S is. Generation 5 Superior allows up to eight independent cooking zones, large-surface roaster cooking zones, and constant pot detection. A new generation of induction cooking.

One way we measure success is by the numbers. And we are excited to report that E.G.O. Croatia reached the production milestone of 250 million bar controllers in 2014. We are proud of our international E.G.O. family and our collective success.

With the opening of the new daycare center "IdeenReich" in Oberderdingen, E.G.O. reinforces its position as a family business. This E.G.O. facility relieves the burden of finding suitable daycare on its employees and promotes the compatibility of family and career.

E.G.O. has consistently continued to develop the motor heating pump for dishwashers. A new sensor layer detects limescale deposits and either removes them, warns the user, or switches off if overheating is imminent. These actions extend the service life of the machine and enable faster and more cost-effective rinsing.

Under the umbrella of the BLANC & FISCHER Training Academy, E.G.O. in Oberderdingen trains young up-and-coming talent together with BLANC & FISCHER IT Services GmbH, BLANCO and BLANCO Professional. Apprentices and students are supervised and taught at the Training Academy.

The first Innovation Event held by the E.G.O.-Group takes place in the Orangery of Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin. Here, we have made future-oriented technologies for the cooking, baking, washing, and dishwashing of tomorrow tangible.

In 2019, we celebrate the future with the opening of our new company headquarters, the "neXus" in Oberderdingen. There are also some anniversaries to celebrate at our sites: 20 years for E.G.O. Components (China) Co. Ltd.; 50 years for E.G.O. Elektro-Geräte AG (Switzerland); 50 years for E.G.O. Elektro-komponente d.o.o. (Croatia); and 30 years for E.G.O. Elektrikli Aletler Sanayi A.S. Türkei (Turkey).

E.G.O. crosses the 40 million mark! Over 40 million operating panels, known as touch controls, for hobs have been produced in the last 23 years. But we are not stopping there: we are already working on the next chapters of our success story.
