Larger plant at a new location
The E.G.O.-Group (E.G.O.) has expanded production at its Mexican location E.G.O. Componentes Electrónicos, S.A. de C.V. (E.G.O. Mexico) and relocated it to the Amexhe Industrial Park in Apaseo el Grande.
Apaseo el Grande | After a short and focused preparation, planning, and construction period, E.G.O. is celebrating its new location in the Amexhe Industrial Park on February 17. For the official opening of the newly occupied production plant in Apaseo el Grande, the Management of E.G.O. Mexico welcomed high-ranking guests from business and administration.
State-of-the-art workplaces in expandable halls
Since there was no room for expansion at E.G.O.'s previous location in Queretaro, the management decided to relocate the entire electronics production, along with the necessary infrastructure and additional machines and equipment from another location to the Amexhe Industrial Park. “There, we rented a production hall with expansion options in a newly developed and conveniently located industrial park in Apaseo el Grande,” explains Brian Smith, Chairman of the Board of Management of E.G.O. Mexico. The hall has an area of approx. 18,000 m², which can be expanded to almost 30,000 m² if required. At the state-of-the-art workstations, around 300 employees now produce electronic controls for dishwashers, clothes dryers, ovens, refrigerators, and washing machines, as well as the EGO HiLight® radiant heating element.
Special challenges overcome
“The E.G.O. team faced special challenges during the relocation,” says Suleyman Sir, member of the management board of E.G.O. Mexico, who is also responsible for the overall project as its manager. The electronics production with the associated infrastructure had to be relocated from the old production facility in Querétaro to the new plant and set up. In order to utilize synergies, it was also necessary to transfer and commission production lines for the manufacture of radiant heating elements from the E.G.O. production plant in Newnan, USA, to train employees, and, of course, to ensure delivery to customers.
At the official opening ceremony, Dr. Karlheinz Hörsting, CEO of the E.G.O.-Group, praised the professional and trusting collaboration of all parties involved, the Querétaro and Newnan sites, and various corporate functions, such as Facility management, Purchasing, HR, and Legal from the headquarters in Oberderdingen, Germany. “With the official opening of our new production site in Mexico, we are celebrating an important milestone in the history of the E.G.O.-Group and opening a new and important chapter for E.G.O. today. The relocation and expansion are a sign of our continued growth in the Americas region and thus create a solid foundation for all stakeholders, employees, customers, and business partners,” continues the E.G.O. CEO, who is also a member of the board of the BLANC & FISCHER family holding company.
Bernd Eckl, CEO of the BLANC & FISCHER Family Holding, is convinced: “Mexico is a strategically important production location for our group. We are here by conviction. And we will stay here. The investment in this new plant is a strong signal of this.”
The relocation of the E.G.O. site in Mexico to the Amexhe Industrial Park is also a positive sign for the Secretary of Economy of the State of Guanajuato, Claudia Cristina Villaseñor Aguilar, and the Mayor of Apaseo El Grande, José Luis Oliveros Usabiaga. The Mayor is delighted: “Apaseo el Grande proudly welcomes E.G.O.-Group, one of the world's leading suppliers to the global household appliance industry and a member of the BLANC & FISCHER family holding company, with open arms.
Today, after 100 years of history of this great company, reaching such an important moment for this group, it is an honor for Apaseo to be part of it.
We know that the company is very clear that the most important part of any organization is its people, because the well-being of its human capital guarantees its success. This is demonstrated by the 5,300 people who are already part of this great family in 19 countries.
Together, we will continue to advance in competitiveness and continue to generate more and better opportunities for all and make this an “Apaseo siempre Grande”.”
“Since its founding in 2006, E.G.O. Mexico has contributed significantly to the growth of the E.G.O.-Group on the American continent. With our new E.G.O. plant in Mexico, we are continuing on this successful path,” emphasizes Brian Smith, before cutting the symbolic ribbon together with the guests of honor, thus ending the official opening.
