E.G.O. expands production capacities in Poland
Official start of construction of the E.G.O.-Group's new production plant (E.G.O.) in Łódź – planned construction time is 12 months
Łódź | The E.G.O.-Group celebrated the start of construction of its new pro-duction plant in Łódź by laying the foundation stone. A modern production plant is being built for E.G.O. Polska Sp. z o.o. (E.G.O. Poland) on Jędrzejowska Street, which, with 15,000 square meters of floor space and a total area of 43,000 square meters, will still offer sufficient room for growth. The work is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. An estimated 300 employees will produce electronic systems for dryers, washing machines, re-frigerators and coffee machines, dishwasher panels, and induction heating elements there. E.G.O. is investing a double-digit million Euro amount in the new building. The internationally active industrial developer Panattoni Devel-opment Europe sp. z o.o., supported by the general contractor Depenbrock Polska Sp. z o.o.Sp.k., is responsible for the implementation. Construction is being supervised by cmT sp. z o.o., a leading provider of engineering ser-vices in Poland. The trades are being awarded to local companies from Łódź and the surrounding area.
Implementing special requirements
The building is a hybrid construction made of reinforced concrete and steel with cladding made of sandwich panels on a reinforced concrete floor. The air conditioning of the production plant is controlled by an HVAC system that enables energy-efficient heating, cooling, and ventilation via a closed circuit. In addition, the necessary installations are made, which are needed, for ex-ample, to create a vacuum or to use nitrogen and compressed air. The build-ing's trapezoidal sheet metal roof, which covers around 12,000 square me-ters, rests on reinforced concrete beams and steel trusses, making it ready for the installation of the photovoltaic system.
Memorabilia placed in time capsule At the groundbreaking ceremony with around 70 guests, Mateusz Sipa, Di-rector at Business Development and International Relations Bureau, City of Łódź Office, Marek Dobrzycki, CEO of Panattoni, as well as Bernd Eckl, Chairman of the Board of BLANC & FISCHER Family Holding, his board col-league Dr. Karlheinz Hörsting, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the E.G.O.-Group, and Mariusz Stepniewski, Managing Director of E.G.O. Poland, together laid a time capsule filled with mementos in the marble foundation stone and sealed it.
The E.G.O.-Group is a member of the BLANC & FISCHER Family Holding. Bernd Eckl, as their CEO, is pleased: “The massive investment in the site is a strong signal of stability to our employees, customers and business part-ners.”
“Today's groundbreaking marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the E.G.O.-Group here in Lodz. The building is a sign of our commitment to the Łódź location - a signal to dare to do new things “, emphasizes E.G.O. CEO Dr. Karlheinz Hörsting in his speech. At the same time, with this new building, the group is setting an example for a continued successful future in the now almost 100-year history of the E.G.O.-Group,” Dr. Hörsting contin-ues.
Mariusz Stepniewski is also positive about the future: “We are pleased to an-nounce that we will start the gradual relocation to the new premises in mid-2025”. The transfer of production from the current location on Manewrowa Street is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025 and last until Janu-ary/February 2026.
The Polish location turns 20, the E.G.O.-Group turns 100.
The E.G.O.-Group has been represented at the Łódź location with a produc-tion plant since 2005. Since then, around 24 million electrical systems have been produced there, including almost 14 million for dryers, almost 1 million for washing machines, around 4.4 million for refrigerators, and approximately 2.4 million for coffee machines. In addition, some 58,000 panels for dish-washers and around 2.63 million induction heaters were produced.
In 2025, the employees of E.G.O. Poland will have several reasons to cele-brate. In addition to moving into the new production plant, the 20th anniver-sary of the site and the 100th anniversary of the E.G.O.-Group are on the agenda.
